Roofstock is seeking a high impact brand and communications leader to join our Marketing team as our Director of Communications. As our ideal candidate, you will report to our Chief Marketing Officer, and will develop and execute Roofstock’s communications strategy. You are as comfortable working and coaching executives as you are with creating and publishing communications for social media. You have strong relationships across a diverse set of media channels, and are an impactful storyteller. Your verbal and written communication skills are exceptional, and you are easily able to develop communications with the authentic voice of the speaker. You have superior organizational and project management skills and use data to guide your PR and communications strategy. You are excited about being part of a growing organization, creating a strong brand and most of all being part of something great.
What you will do:
Oversee branding, positioning, public relations, social media, speaking engagements, trade shows/events, the Web site, crisis communications, product launches, and analyst relations.
Define, develop and manage end-to-end execution of press strategies.
Manage public relations agencies to develop communications plans, and execute to maximize results.
Prepare executives for media interactions, internal communication, and public appearances.
Establish and maintain relationships with the local and national media covering technology, real estate, and general business.
What you bring with you:
10+ years of experience leading a corporate communications function.
Experience leading media and communications strategies for a successful startup or high-growth company. Experience in real-estate, peer-to-peer, and online-marketplace sectors a plus.
Proven track record in creating innovative and targeted communications programs that generate results.
Solid track record for generating positive media coverage across all channels, including social media and blogs.
Strong existing relationships with key press contacts for relevant industry and trade media.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, and can be equally effective in both formal and informal settings with press, customers, senior executives, peers, and business partners.
Possess both high-level strategic thinking as well as detailed execution skills.
Bachelor’s degree required. MBA a plus.
Proactive and outgoing with a get-it-done attitude.
